The Crylhound and Crylbeast are a species of monsters. These enemies, resembling elaborately designed cheetahs, are palette swaps of each other, with varying levels of strength and are fought in different locations in the game. All of the variants in this monster line are Green-affiliated.

The Crylhound (ガトー Gatō) is a black variant with white spots and yellow spikes. It can used the following abilities:

  • Attack: A standard physical attack.
  • Quika
  • Run: This monster has the ability to try and run away, thereby removing it from the battle if successful. This ability removes the monster in a way that doesn't count as a kill (the party will not gain any EXP or Gold).

When defeated, Crylhounds yield 34 EXP, 33 Gold and have a 3% chance of dropping a Crylhound's Claw. Crylhounds are fought in the "ruined" portion of the Valua Catacombs.

Crylhound is the fastest monster fought in the Catacombs, although it doesn't have much in terms of offense and aren't quite as durable as the Mind Stealer. Their ability to double the enemy party's Quick is something to keep in mind.
