Zivilyn Bane in the Temple of Pyrynn

Zivilyn Bane (盗掘者シモン Toukutsu-sha Shimon) is the name of a group of Bandits that are fought periodically throughout the game, usually appearing once per major storyline dungeon.

Information

Each Zivilyn Bane encounter occurs when the player approaches a specific treasure chests and attempts to open it. At this point he will engage you in battle, from where and how he got there is never explained. After defeating him you will automatically open the chest he was guarding and receive the treasure, which will be very valuable albeit otherwise useless.

Appearances

They are fought in the Temple of Pyrynn, Rixis, Daccat's Island, the Grand Fortress, the Dark Rift, Mount Kazai, Glacia, and finally, Soltis. In Skies of Arcadia Legends, Lord Bane replaces Zivilyn Bane as the player's opponent in Soltis, but this foe can summon Zivilyn Bane allies one at a time. Each Zivilyn Bane that is fought is progressively stronger. They appear to be desert bandits, equipped with a small sword and what appear to be ninja stars. Their special move, Burst, appears to use some sort of home-made grenade, and can hit any members of the party close together for devastating damage.

If the player does not engage the bandits before they complete the dungeon and come back at a later point in the story to reclaim the treasure then the bandit will not appear. This is not a recommended tactic as Zivilyn Bane drops rare stat-boosting seeds. Zivilyn Bane is vulnerable to the effects of Eternum, but Lord Bane is not.

In all of his encounters, Zivilyn Bane uses the following battle commands:

• Attack: A standard physical attack.
• Grenade: Zivilyn Bane takes up a defensive stance, which is followed by a tube-shape explosion, damaging all party memebers caught in the blast radius.

Trivia

• The Zivilyn Bane appear to be the Skies of Arcadia equivalent of Mimic, a common RPG monster that hides in treasure chests (or in some cases, are the treasure chest) and attack those who attempt to open them.
• An enemy Ace character called "Zivilyn the Bane" appears in the fourth game in the Valkyria Chronicles series.
